Baden-Baden has also taken precautions to prevent the coronavirus from spreading: After a general ban on all events in the city as of 15 March, the 2020 Easter Festival has had to be cancelled. “We were all very much looking forward to the first Festival with our new chief conductor Kirill Petrenko,” said Andrea Zietzschmann, general manager of the Berliner Philharmoniker. “We wanted to offer our audience in Baden-Baden a very special festival this year for Beethoven’s 250th birthday with a new production of Fidelio and many other concerts. This makes it all the more sad for all of us that we cannot be in Baden-Baden for Easter.”
The Festspielhaus Baden-Baden asks concert-goers who have already bought tickets for the Easter Festival to be patient. All customers will be contacted as soon as possible. The Berliner Philharmoniker and the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden are in talks to develop an exclusive and extraordinary concert weekend in the autumn.
