The photographs in the orchestra’s 2017/2018 season brochure has been awarded a total of four prizes as best work of the year in the photography category by the Art Directors Club. In the photo series entitled Stadtansichten (City Views), five yellow lines of the musical stave turn the city into a music score. Objects, points and structures become individual notes thanks to the stave lines, playing an urban melody.
In this way they bring the current programme of the Berliner Philharmoniker into a dialogue with the city of Berlin and also form a strong binding visual element which stands out from the usual event communication. The idea came from the agency Scholz & Friends and was realised by Hamburg photographer Kai-Uwe Gundlach. In the coming season, these motifs also appear on posters, in advertisements and in the programme booklets.
The Art Directors Club, the professional association of the advertising industry, presents awards annually to creative and original work in the field of advertising, design, digital media, editorial and communication. The award is seen as the most important advertising prize in Germany.
