Concerts with the Berliner Philharmoniker
Tugan Sokhiev launches the series with Shostakovich’s shattering Fourth Symphony, followed in the second programme by Riccardo Minasi making his debut with works by Mozart. There will then be a very special evening when Martha Argerich and Daniel Barenboim carry on their celebrated artistic partnership. Daniele Gatti investigates the end of Romanticism with the sumptuous sounds of works by Wagner, Schoenberg and Strauss. Kirill Petrenko conducts Smetana’s cycle Má Vlast including the ever-popular Moldau. To conclude, Simon Rattle and the Berliner Philharmoniker’s principal horn Stefan Dohr present a new concerto by Jörg Widmann, after which the former chief conductor performs Bruckner’s magnificent Sixth Symphony.
