Concerts with the Berliner Philharmoniker
Simon Rattle returns to the Philharmonie with a selection from the late-Romantic standard repertory: Bruckner’s Sixth Symphony. In addition, this series will offer two large vocal works: Schoenberg’s oratorio Die Jakobsleiter, conducted by Kirill Petrenko, and Dvořák’s moving Stabat Mater with Jakub Hrůša. Robin Ticciati has chosen Mahler’s relatively slender yet profound Fourth Symphony for his first appearance with the Berliner Philharmoniker, while Hannu Lintu will make his debut with modern French, Russian and Finnish works. Jörg Widmann will conduct Mendelssohn’s “Reformation” Symphony, a personal favourite, as well as his own Second Violin Concerto, with his sister Carolin as soloist.
