Concerts with the Berliner Philharmoniker
When Kirill Petrenko conducts Richard Strauss’s searing expressionist opera Elektra, high-voltage music making is guaranteed. In the title role: Nina Stemme, one of the most intense interpreters of this feverishly obsessed character. Among this series’ instrumental soloists will be legendary pianist Evgeny Kissin. Jörg Widmann appears as Composer-in-Residence while also making his Berliner Philharmoniker conducting debut. Also mounting the orchestra’s podium for the first time will be Fabio Luisi and Robin Ticciati with symphonies by Franz Schmidt and Gustav Mahler. And two conductors long esteemed by the Philharmonic, François-Xavier Roth and Daniel Harding, are devoting themselves to the imposing symphonies of Bruckner.
