Young Friends

of the Berliner Philharmoniker

As part of the Friends of the Berlin Philharmonic, the Young Friends aim to interest young adults in Philharmonic life and classical music – with exclusive events, exciting discussion rounds and joint excursions.

About us

Are you between 18 and 35 years old, enthusiastic about classical music and looking for like-minded people? Then become a member of the Junge Freunde!

As a member, you can expect backstage discussions, workshops and visits to dress rehearsals that provide unusual insights into the artistic work of the Berliner Philharmoniker and the world of classical music. The events are open to all members. Non-members are cordially invited to attend an event on a trial basis and be convinced by what we have to offer.
This is what awaits you:

What awaits you:

  • Dress rehearsal visits: Be there when the Berliner Philharmoniker rehearses with world-famous conductors – for example, at the dress rehearsal for the New Year's Eve concert and the season-ending concert at the Waldbühne.
  • Backstage talks: exchange views with orchestra musicians and other top artists about their experiences and careers in exclusive talks.
  • Music in dispute! Discuss central issues of cultural life with experts from the music and culture scene – informative, controversial and humorous.
  • Music at the Movies: Watch films in which music plays a leading role and discuss them afterwards with musicians from the orchestra and/or other experts.
  • Excursions: Experience what the Berlin scene has to offer on joint excursions to other cultural locations.
  • Cinema LIVE: Experience concert highlights of the Berlin Philharmonic live in the cinema three times a year.
  • Matinees: Enjoy chamber music by musicians and ensembles of the orchestra as well as other exciting interviews and lectures at the Sunday morning concerts held three times a year.
  • Chamber Music Concerts of the Junge Kammerphilharmonie Berlin: Get to know the Junge Kammerphilharmonie Berlin – the ensemble of the Junge Freundeskreis - at exclusive chamber music concerts.
  • Stammtisch rounds: Meet members of the Junge Freundeskreis after events and network with other classical music fans.

The membership fee is based on the normal annual membership fee of the association, the amount of which is set by the members themselves (but at least 100 euros, students at least 50 euros), and is tax-deductible.
