Open rehearsals

The Berliner Philharmoniker up close: At open rehearsal visits, pupils have the opportunity to experience the orchestra at work with renowned conductors and soloists, and thus gain an insight into the rehearsal process.

It’s more fun if you do your homework!

To prepare for the rehearsal visit, the education department sends teaching materials to the teachers around 3-4 weeks in advance. They deal with the respective works, the composers and eras, and explain musical concepts. Perfect for arousing interest in the works to be performed in the rehearsal.

What happens at the Philharmonie?

The meeting point for this event is the porter’s office of the Philharmonie at 9 am. Before the rehearsal starts, there is a 30-minute musical introduction to the work in the foyer of the Philharmonie. A musician from the orchestra will be there to answer questions and to talk about life as a musician. This is followed by the rehearsal in the main concert hall.

Due to popular demand, we ask teachers to register early. Preparatory teaching materials are provided.
