The centrepiece of the 2024 Easter Festival in Baden-Baden, conducted by Kirill Petrenko, is a new production of Richard Strauss’s expressionist opera Elektra, which exposes human abysses with unprecedented intensity. In addition, the Baden-Baden public can look forward to memorable concerts with the orchestra’s principal conductor: for example, the first act of Wagner’s Die Walküre and performances of Jean Sibelius’s Violin Concerto, with Lisa Batiashvili again as soloist. Rounding off the festival programme will be concerts by Berliner Philharmoniker chamber-music ensembles, at attractive venues in the spa city, as well as educational presentations.
