Outstanding vocal performances await you in the Saturday subscription series with oratorios by Handel and Mendelssohn – conducted by Emmanuelle Haïm and Kirill Petrenko respectively. Tenor Andrew Staples, a long-time partner of the Berliner Philharmoniker, completes the vocal programming with Vaughan Williams’s song cycle On Wenlock Edge. Romantic symphonies from the core repertoire will also be heard – Schumann’s Third and Bruckner’s Seventh – along with the rarely performed piano concertos by Reger and Schoenberg. After the appearances of popular guest conductors Marek Janowski, Daniel Harding and Andris Nelsons, Kirill Petrenko concludes the series with world premieres of works by composers Julia Wolfe and Lisa Streich.
