In the repertoire of Series H, we encounter the German-Austrian cultural sphere, France, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Russia, America. Herbert Blomstedt conducts Beethoven and Schubert, and François-Xavier Roth follows with works including Dukas’s dramatic Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Bruno Delepelaire, first principal cellist of the Berliner Philharmoniker, plays Édouard Lalo’s late Romantic Cello Concerto under Tugan Sokhiev, and, together with works by Ligeti and Debussy, Kirill Petrenko presents a world premiere by the Czech composer Miroslav Srnka. Gustavo Dudamel brings music from his native continent of South America and his adoptive home in North America, and Daniel Barenboim will interpret works by Wagner and César Franck.
