At the age of eight, Avi Avital discovered the mandolin, and has since helped the somewhat forgotten instrument regain new respect – thanks to his virtuoso playing technique. Together with the pianist Omer Klein and his trio, he demonstrates in this concert how classical music, jazz and folklore can combine to create new musical styles. Johann Sebastian Bach’s dramatic and profound Partita No. 2 in D minor serves as a starting point for the musician to enter into a musical dialogue with the jazz improvisations of the Omer Klein Trio.
