Happy Birthday! 50 years of the 12 Cellists of the Berliner Philharmoniker

In 1972, the ORF engaged the cello section of the Berliner Philharmoniker for a radio recording of Julius Klengel’s Hymnus for 12 Cellos – the birth of an ensemble that today enjoys cult status. The 12 cellists have now been delighting audiences all over the world for 50 years with its multi-faceted sound and a repertoire that ranges from the Classical to the avant-garde, and from jazz to tango. They celebrate their 50th birthday with a concert in which they present their finest works and arrangements and also premiere a new work by Andrew Norman.
