Debut: Castalian String Quartet

The young Castalian String Quartet is already one of the world’s leading string quartets, thanks to its wonderfully expressive playing style. The ensemble has won numerous prestigious prizes and recently received the Young Artist Award from the Royal Philharmonic Society for its “thoughtful, intelligent music-making”. At its debut in our Quartet series, the ensemble contrasts Joseph Haydn’s “Fifths” Quartet and Beethoven’s late Opus 132 with The Four Quarters, the second contribution to this genre by the English composer Thomas Adès.
