Philharmonic Salon

Sealed by Love’s Kiss

This Philharmonic Salon sheds light on the relationship between Richard Wagner and Mathilde Wesendonck. The composer, who was wanted for his revolutionary activities in Dresden, met the married woman while in exile in Switzerland, where her husband supported the fugitive financially. She became his beloved and muse, who not only inspired him to write his opera Tristan und Isolde, but also provided the poems for the cycle of his Wesendonck Lieder. Guests of the salon are the speakers Brigitte Karner and Heikko Deutschmann plus the mezzo-soprano Nadine Weissmann and the Philharmonic String Quintet.
