Programme

“When I get to play Beethoven, it’s like entering paradise for me,” said Frank Peter Zimmermann during WDR’s celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the composer’s birth. Thanks to his great virtuosity and warm, well-tempered tone, the artist is one of the foremost violinists of the present day. As a passionate chamber musician, he devotes himself to Beethoven’s Violin Sonatas – together with Martin Helmchen, who is one of the younger generation’s top pianists. In the first concert of their Beethoven cycle, they present the Violin Sonatas Nos. 1 to 4.
