Programme

Schumann, Scriabin and Rachmaninov – so far, Daniil Trifonov has performed Romantic and late-Romantic piano concertos with the Berliner Philharmoniker. He now presents himself to the orchestra for the first time as a Beethoven interpreter – with the Third Piano Concerto, whose charm lies in the alternation of heroic gesture and dream-like musings. At the same time it is a musical bow to Mozart, who Beethoven greatly admired. Mendelssohn’s First Symphony, which he wrote at the age of 15, was also inspired by Mozart. A youthful work that nevertheless points the way to the style of the mature composer.
