People hurry through the streets and through life, in search of work and happiness; they fear the future and look forward to evening. The city hums, clatters and jangles. And sometimes the sky opens up for a beautiful melody. We hear all of that during the nearly half-hour of Kurt Weill’s First Symphony, also called the “Berliner Symphonie”, which he composed after the First World War. Kirill Petrenko and the Berliner Philharmoniker invite all interested children and families to join them on a journey to explore the music of Berlin in the 1920s.
