“Speak low, when you speak love”
“But you know you come right after my music,” Kurt Weill used to say to his wife Lotte Lenya when there was another marital crisis. The letters they wrote to each other until Weill’s death in 1950 are full of delightful brashness, tender love poetry and crude gossip. They both loved infidelities – and yet Kurt wrote to Lotte: “I believe we’re the only married couple without problems.” Katharina Schüttler and Clemens Schick read from their letters.
