Accademia del Piacere is regarded as one of Spain’s best Baroque ensembles. Its hallmark is the rediscovery of long-forgotten composers. Under the title “Muera Cupido – Die, Cupid!”, the ensemble and soprano Nuria Rial present arias from operas and zarzuelas by Sebastián Durón, who combined innovative ideas from Italy with the musical traditions of his native Spain during the Baroque period. From this synthesis Durón developed his characteristic, unmistakable musical language – melodically moving and rhythmically exciting.
