Programme

They are passionate about Baroque music: the members of the ensemble Concerto Melante. The group is named after Georg Philipp Telemann, who adopted the memorable pseudonym “Melante”, an anagram of the syllables of his surname. The musicians, the majority of whom are members of the Berliner Philharmoniker, play on period instruments in order to closely approximate the slender sound ideal of historically informed performance practice. The programme includes solo cantatas from the North German School – works characterized by extraordinary emotional intensity, in which there is much to discover.
