A last bow, a big thank-you to orchestra, choir and soloists! Time to pack and move on to Amsterdam and Paris. We had a blast in London! Our deepest gratitude goes towards the Barbican and Southbank for making this residency not only possible but a great joy for everybody involved! Also a big thank-you to Askonas Holt for organizing this.

As part of our London residency the 12 Cellists played a family concert in the Royal Festival Hall moderated by Sarah Willis. Great response from our mostly young audience not only towards the music but especially the socks and Nikolaus Römisch’s football skills.

In a friendly game today in Bermondsey a team from the Royal College of Music played against the “FC Berliner Philharmoniker” with members of the orchestra, the Barbican team and the team of Askonas Holt. Our colleagues from the Royal College showed a convincing team spirit and won 6-3. Everybody had a lot of fun!

Before yesterday evening’s concert the Young Orchestra for London had an open rehearsal/concert playing “Finlandia” by Jean Sibelius. This orchestra consists of young London musicians who applied to be a member of this exciting project. Children from all London bouroughs played under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle on stage of the Barbican. An unforgettable experience for the young musicians and their audience!
