“Pique Dame”: the Premiere

The premiere of the Pique Dame also inaugurated the Baden-Baden Easter Festival 2022, the first since 2019. A festive mood was in the air as the Berliner Philharmoniker and Kirill Petrenko played the first bars of the overture. Breathlessly, we followed the fate of Herman and Liza, who, in this opera dealing with topics such as love and addiction, both end up betting on the wrong card.

The Festspielhaus Baden-Baden welcomes the audience for the Premiere.

A rare sight: the Berliner Philharmoniker played from inside the orchestra pit.

The impressive scene of the masquerade ball where Liza makes a fateful decision.

Thunderous final applause for all musicians and participants behind the scenes.

And afterwards, this of course had to be duly celebrated!
