Baroque Festival 2022

Two weekends of pure baroque

The music of the Baroque: tonal splendour, elegance, and emotion. The resounding fanfare is just as much a part of this music as the graceful sound of a vocal duet. In our Baroque Festival, everything revolves around this unmistakable tonal language. Our festival guests include some of the world’s leading Early music ensembles, as well as outstanding soloists. Well-established names such as the Berlin Baroque Soloists, the Freiburger Barockorchester and Les Arts Florissants with conductor William Christie will be appearing, plus exciting newcomers such as the harpsichordist Jean Rondeau, who will play Bach’s Goldberg Variations. The main focus of the festival is on Bach, such as in cantata evenings with Anna Prohaska and Florian Boesch and with the Czech Collegium 1704. The Jupiter Ensemble and the Accademia del Piacere, on the other hand, will concentrate on lesser-known composers who provide us with the opportunity to discover new facets of the Baroque.
