Deutsche Bank

Over 30 years of partnership

In 1989, Deutsche Bank and the Berliner Philharmoniker signed the first cooperation agreement. Providing as many people as possible with access to music, awakening enthusiasm, discovering and fostering creative talents and enabling technical innovations – these have been the common goals ever since. “In this partnership of more than 30 years, we have experienced time and again how music builds a bridge to overcome cultural, linguistic and social boundaries,” says Christian Sewing, Chairman of the Board of Deutsche Bank AG, describing the common vision. “There is no comparable cooperation between an orchestra and a private company anywhere in the world. Top quality combined with innovative strength, curiosity, liveliness and openness characterise our cooperation. We are united by a great enthusiasm for what we do – in our home country as well as in the many activities around the globe.” Future-oriented projects have been realised with Deutsche Bank's support since then, such as the Education Programme and the Digital Concert Hall. “This reliable partnership goes far beyond sponsorship and is characterised by a common endeavour to open classical music to a new audience.” affirms artistic director Andrea Zietzschmann.

Throughout the season there are regular collaborations that take place at the PalaisPopulaire, such as the breakfast concert Workshop.Dialogue.Music and the musical tours MusicArt@Palais as well as art exhibitions in the Green Room of the Philharmonie Berlin.

Working together for a shared vision
Andrea Zietzschmann, Artistic Director of the Berliner Philharmoniker, and Dr. Anna Herrhausen, from 2020 - 2023 Head of Art & Culture at Deutsche Bank, talk about the many years of trustful cooperation and its value for society.
