Strictly speaking, Christoph Streuli owes the fact that he is a violinist today to a classmate. He was enrolled in violin lessons, and because the teacher had another opening, the eight-year-old Christoph Streuli simply went along with his friend. After passing his university entrance qualification he studied first at the Winterthur Musikhochschule with Rudolf Bamert, then Konzertmeister of the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, and in the master course of Aida Stucki, later at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam with Herman Krebbers.
He further honed his skills in master classes given by Franco Gulli, Walter Levin and the Melos Quartet. Before coming to the Berliner Philharmoniker, he was deputy leader of the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra of Heilbronn and a member of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Streuli, whose interests include film and literature, and who enjoys skiing, was a longtime member of the Scharoun Ensemble and plays in various chamber music formations such as the Berlin Baroque Soloists and with David Riniker in the Feininger Trio.
