Horns of the Berliner Philharmoniker

They’re primarily – says ensemble member Klaus Wallendorf – a “concert service” group. But from time to time, the eight horn players appear with a programme of their own. In their repertoire they have arrangements of symphonic works, but also original compositions for their special configuration – from composers including Brett Dean and Arturo Pantaleón. Apart from the Philharmonie, they have also been heard at Frankfurt’s Alte Oper and, especially, in Japan.

In July 2007, the ensemble’s debut CD – “Opera” – appeared, containing arrangements running the gamut from Richard Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde to Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story.
