Rainer Mehne
Rainer Mehne studied in Saarbrücken with Ludwig Bus and in Hanover with André Gertler. The completion of his studies in 1970 was followed by an initial engagement
at the Radio Symphony Orchestra of the North German Radio (NDR) in Hannover.
For years later he joined the Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin (nowadays the
Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester), and in 1975 he became member of the second
violins at the Berliner Philharmoniker. After becoming a member of the Berliner Philharmoniker he continued his solo activities and commitment to chamber music, founding the Berlin Piano Quartet, playing in the Philharmonic Octet and the Philharmonic Virtuosi. Since 1999, Rainer Mehne has been a teacher at the Festival of Strings in San Diego.
