The Berliner Philharmoniker and their Chief Conductor, Sir Simon Rattle, go on a 17-day tour from 8 to 25 November, with nine concerts in four cities. The tour programme features works by Mahler, Brahms, Haydn, Berg, Rachmaninoff and Brett Dean.
The tour takes the orchestra to Abu Dhabi, where they will present one concert during the Abu Dhabi Classics series. From there the Berliner Philharmoniker will fly to Australia for the first time in their history for appearances at the Perth Concert Hall and the famed Sydney Opera House.
In addition to four symphony concerts, a project of the orchestra's education programme Zukunft@BPhil, sponsored by the Deutsche Bank, is also on the itinerary in Sydney. The project REMIX - From Mahler’s Time will be presented by Australian school children and musicians from the Berliner Philharmoniker in the Foyer of the Sydney Opera House.
The tour concludes with two concerts at the Esplanade Concert Hall in Singapore, where the orchestra will also make its debut. During the tour there will be a blog on the Berliner Philharmoniker's website.
