11:00 | Kammermusiksaal
When, on 28 October 1987, the Berliner Philharmoniker officially opened the Kammermusiksaal under the direction of their principal conductor Herbert von Karajan and with Anne-Sophie Mutter as soloist, a long-cherished dream became reality. 24 years after completion of Hans Scharoun’s stroke of genius, the ensemble of buildings of the Berliner Philharmonie was now completed, and with the new hall an additional stage was on offer for the orchestra’s many chamber music activities.
On 27 October 2012 the Stiftung Berliner Philharmoniker will celebrate the Chamber Music Hall’s 25th anniversary in cooperation with the Friends of the Berliner Philharmoniker e.V. The heart will be works that were premiered by ensembles and members of the Berliner Philharmoniker in the Chamber Music Hall or that will be performed there on this day for the first time. In a kind of concert marathon from late morning to early evening, a varied and colourful programme of the most diverse of groups will be organised alternately in the hall and in the foyer.
The day will open with a philharmonic “birthday” salon by and with Götz Teutsch. Another high point will be the performance of Igor Stravinsky’s L’Histoire du soldat with members of the Berliner Philharmoniker and Isabel Karajan.
