Academy II - Harmoniemusik
Excerpts from Weber's Der Freischütz, Mozart's The Abduction from the Seraglio and Le nozze di Figaro as well as Spohr's Notturno op. 34
There will always be young musicians who seek out the challenge of mastering the Classical-Romantic repertoire. In the Orchestra Academy of the Berliner Philharmoniker they receive exclusive guidance from members of the orchestra, who, as chamber music docents, share their own experience while giving the young musicians room to develop their own ideas. One of the Philharmonic docents dubbed the Academy scholars “colleagues of the future”. Nothing is more important to their artistic development than the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities before an audience, on this occasion with “Harmoniemusik”, a genre for wind ensemble that had its heyday in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
