The summer concert of the Orchestra Academy of the Berliner Philharmoniker provides an opportunity time and again to hear rarely played repertoire, particularly of the 20th century, in the most varied chamber music instrumental combinations. Some works that were a great challenge for both listeners and performers when first performed are now experienced as classical modernism, as familiar territory, so to say. Still, however, many compositions are played much too rarely – which offers the academy scholars an interesting field of activity. At this concert, it is also intended to pay tribute to several composers celebrating anniversaries in the year 2013.
