Philharmonische Streichersolisten

The Philharmonic String Soloists of Berlin are an association of ambitious chamber musicians from the Berliner Philharmoniker who have appeared together without a conductor since 1979 in a wide range of concert activities. The ensemble has already given more than 100 concerts all over the world. Its music-making of the highest standard is documented by CD recordings and a multi-faceted repertoire, ranging from the early Baroque to the music of our own time. Noted composers have dedicated new works to the Philharmonic String Soloists. Among the most interesting is Maki Ishii’s Hommage à Piotr Tchaikovski for 15 solo strings, which the ensemble premiered in 1990 at the Osaka Symphony Hall and has since then played with great success in many international music capitals.
