Bolero Berlin

Bolero Berlin – in this ensemble four members of the Berliner Philharmoniker indulge their love of South American music: Martin Stegner, Manfred Preis, Esko Laine and Raphael Haeger, who here sits at the piano rather than his customary place among the Philharmonic percussion. The special sound of the group is complemented by the renowned jazz guitarist Helmut Nieberle and Argentine percussionist Daniel “Topo” Gioia. Musically, almost everything for this ensemble revolves around the Mexican-Cuban bolero, the danzón and the tango – performed elegantly and expressively in concert form, augmented with elements of jazz.
