Music connects! With that in mind, the Berliner Philharmoniker every season offers family concerts with programmes specially tailored to both children and their grown-up companions. Important, pioneering or amusing works are entertainingly presented to the attendees. Especially popular is the series “Meet the Orchestra”, which gives the whole family a chance to experience up close selected instrumental sections of the Berliner Philharmoniker and to learn fascinating information about the musicians, their instruments and their lives. Free kindergarten services will be available druing the family concerts if desired. Recommended for 6 year olds and over.
Family Concert 1 – From Empire to Island-Hut
Matthew Hunter presents together with guest artist and vocalist David Moss a fascinating concert based on Napoleon’s fall, and the work Ode to Napoleon Buonaparte by Arnold Schoenberg.

Family Concert 2 – Merry Christmas
The Christmas concert this season, moderated by Sarah Willis, conjures up the world of Peter Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker.

Family Concert 3 – Spring Time
In this first part of family concerts dedicated to seasons, Spring and Summer from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons will be the main focus of the concert.

Family Concert 4 – The Gruffelo
It’s story telling time! A staged chamber music event for the whole family based on the story ofthe Gruffelo will include music commissioned by Zukunft@BPhil and written by the Berlin composer Iris ter Schiphorst especially for this event.
