Thank you very much to all participants for your wonderful Remixes. The entries represented a broad representation of stylistic and musical approaches and we were happy to receive and be able to listen to such excellent and interesting remixes.
The Education Programme of the Berliner Philharmoniker, in cooperation with the Digital Concert Hall and SoundCloud set up the remix contest in August. Anyone interested in entering was invited to create an own remix based on a several stem tracks from a recording of the Berliner Philharmoniker from the first Movement of Symphony no. 1 by Gustav Mahler and which showed as synthesis of own ideas with the sound world of Gustav Mahler. The remixes could be from (approx.) 3-5 minutes in length.
The jury consisted of members of the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Digital Concert Hall as well as the guest musician, Matthew Herbert who are pleased to announce the following winner:
G.Mahler, 1. Symphony rearranged by Nikolai Blau by NikolaiBlau
The jury selected his work mentioning its “great sensitivity to the sound world of Mahler as well as new harmonic tensions woven in superb synthesis to ‘Nikolai Blaus’ own sounds.”
There was such a great range of responses, the jury also wishes to award recommendations to a three further entries.

All participants will be contacted via SoundCloud and receive a 48-Hour Ticket for the Digital Concert Hall. The Winner receives a 12-Month Ticket to the Digital Concert Hall as well as a SoundCloud Pro account. The Remix will be published on the Website of the Berliner Philharmoniker.
