The Creative Studio offers artistic and creative, interdisciplinary and intercultural workshops over several hours on various topics for interested parties of all ages. Making music together, discovering music in conjunction with other art forms, exploring music and instruments from other cultures – even constructing them yourself: This is all about active participation. The creative studio is held three times per season: The first is entitled “Yodelling and urban brass”, in line with the first concert of the series Underway - World Music with Roger Willemsen. The Swiss vocalist and vocal artist Christian Zehnder introduces the participants of his workshops to the art of yodelling. But don’t worry, this has nothing to do with traditional yodelling. Rather, Zehnder presents an entertaining exploration of urban and alpine landscapes.
From the Alps to Ukraine via Paris
The inspiration behind the second Creative Studio is Puccini’s Manon Lescaut which the Berliner Philharmoniker will present at the Easter Festival in Baden-Baden. Taschenoper Lübeck, a company which introduces grand opera to young people, will present a workshop exploring this work for participants of all ages, involving singing and acting. The third and final Creative Studio turns its attention to the east, to Ukraine. This is once again thematically connected to an Underway concert. The workshop is led by Mariana Sadovska, often referred to on the international music scene as the “Ukrainian Björk”. Like Christian Zehnder, she adds a new dimension to the traditional music of her homeland by combining it with contemporary sounds.
