This programme enables regular visits over the course of a season by members of the the Berliner Philharmoniker to a small number of childcare centres with limited access to cultural opportunities. Over time, the children are introduced to the instruments of the orchestra and may also try them. Finally, there is a visit to a rehearsal in the Philharmonie where the children hear the sound of the whole orchestra. The grand finale is the KlangKids festival at the Philharmonie with all the participants of the project.
Concerts to go
The musicians of the Berliner Philharmoniker pack their bags to take kindergarten children on a musical journey. For half an hour, the childcare centre revolves around music: the children can meet the musicians and their instruments and hear all about the instruments and the life of a professional musician.
The Philharmoniker were here! What happens next?
The visit by the musicians generates interest and enthusiasm among the children. The next step is to keep that interest going. Further training is available to the childcare centre educators so they can continue to use music with the children after the KlangKid year comes to an end.
For interested childcare centre groups, a selection of orchestral rehearsals with introductions are offered. A 20 minute first-time listening experience with the sound of the full orchestra in the Berlin Philharmonie.
