Kindergarten Activities
Education Programme - KlangKIDS

We can observe in all children a delight in music, in their urge to move to the music, their spontaneous reaction to it in facial expressions and gestures, the way they conduct along, their capacity for rhythmic improvisation and their spellbound listening! In order to promote this musical predisposition in children as early as possible, players from the Berlin Philharmonic will be paying regular visits to Berlin kindergartens, sharing their passion for music with the smallest members of our society.

Experimental play with sounds and instruments, voice and body encourages the development of perceptive and expressive potential along with the child’s hearing and sense of rhythm: it promotes inner balance, social intelligence and identity, empathy, originality and creativity, a sense of self and of co-operating with others…

The connecting power of music is especially apparent in the sound of an orchestra, where the individual merges into the whole – lifted to a height and force of which it alone would not be capable of achieving. This too is an experience in which we want to let children participate by inviting them to a brief visit in the Philharmonie. During a selected orchestral rehearsal, together with the musicians on the platform, the children have an opportunity to surrender completely to the sounds and to perceive subconsciously that there are places in the mind and spirit which are particularly susceptible to being touched by music.

»Wann kommen denn endlich die PHILHARMUSIKER wieder?«
