Every season, secondary schoolchildren beginning with the tenth class have the opportunity of attending selected dress rehearsals of the Berlin Philharmonic! Here young people can directly experience the Philharmonic musicians at work with renowned conductors and soloists, gaining insight into the way in which the orchestra rehearses.
Following some of the rehearsals there are also conversations with the artists, offering young people a chance to ask the composers and conductors questions about their work. The meeting point on each occasion is the Philharmonie porter’s desk at 9 am. Following a musical introduction to the works in the Philharmonie foyer, with an orchestra member on hand, we’ll move to the dress rehearsal in the main auditorium.
Because of the great demand for participation in these events, we urge teachers to apply early. Preparatory instructional material will be provided in advance.
