REMIX - San Francisco Polyphony

György Ligeti commented on his work: “In San Francisco Polyphony the intervals and harmony are subjected to an overall formal plan which ­organizes heterogenic melodic voices into a type of magnetic field.” In this project young students will be introduced to the compositional preoccupations of Ligeti in San Francisco Polyphony and will create together with musicians of the Berliner Philharmoniker their own musical composition. Layers of sound and single melodic voices will be composed exploring their relationships in ­analogy to a sonic collage of city sounds.
