SONGS – From Mahler’s Time III

The third of the Mahler Project series will revisit the material and themes from the Symphony No. 8 by Gustav Mahler. This creative project will be carried out with high school students from Berlin, who create, arrange and structure their very own musical ideas based on Mahler’s music and preoccupations. The presentation of the students’ work will take place immediately preceding the performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 in the Philharmonie. The project is part of the musikfest berlin 11.

The first two projects were carried out in the Sydney Opera House and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam during the orchestral tours in the season 2010/2011 and can be viewed on the project’s blog:
