29.03.2012OnTOUR: SONGS – Carmen
In this creative project inspired by the opera “Carmen“ school students will write and compose their own love songs.
These creative projects are the heart of our education-programme. They are interdisciplinary and seek to investigate the many different perspectives within the repertoire of the orchestra. Herein the various facets are suggested by the particular name of a project, for example Music-ART, MusicFILM or REMIX. Scheduled to precede the Berlin Philharmonic’s own evening programmes, the presentations of the education concerts take place in the Philharmonie, as well as other venues and institutions in Berlin such as prisons, schools or the arena in the Berlin district of Treptow. Here in the arena the yearly dance project creates a forum for people of all generations to experience a grand musical introduction to the whole orchestra, to community dance as well as the chance to interact and perform together.
In this creative project inspired by the opera “Carmen“ school students will write and compose their own love songs.

Young dancers will, during intensive weeks of rehearsal with the renowned Sasha Waltz & Guests, be introduced to the drama and opera "Carmen".

In a series of workshops involving painting and music, young students experiment with the transition of colour and forms into sound.

The third of the Mahler Project series will revisit the material and themes from the Symphony No. 8 by Gustav Mahler.
