The third of the Mahler Project series will revisitthe material and themes from the SymphonyNo. 8 by Gustav Mahler.

Dance-project based on song cycles of the French baroque composer Jean-Philippe Rameau.

After a successful opening at the Sydney Opera House in November 2010 this is the second OnTOUR-project reflecting the music of Gustav Mahler.

Reflecting on the underlying themes of Mahler’s First Symphony, students will create and structure a composition based on the paths of lives, the connection to nature and the parallel joys, turbulences and tribulations encountered during these individual paths.

Coro by Luciano Berio is the basis for this first creative education project of the season. Berio once described his work as “an anthology of different modes of ‘setting to music’”.

This year’s dance project in the arena will be based on the acclaimed jazz musician Wynton Marsalis’s new composition.

In this project young students will be introduced to the compositional preoccupations of Ligeti in San Francisco Polyphony.

This creative dance and music project stems from the Alla turca chamber music series of the orchestra.
