Just as Brahms sought a new form and message with his Ein deutsches Requiem, so students will continue this search and investigate various rituals of mourning and closure in different societies. Led by Götz Teutsch, well known as the originator of the Philharmonic Salon series, the students will develop texts and music based on the materials they have uncovered. The performance of their music and song rituals, accompanied by readings of some of the original texts encountered in their research, will represent a novel formal approach to the idea of a Requiem.
