Between 1914 and 1917 Gustav Holst translated the astrological characteristics of the planets into musical images in his monumental orchestral suite. Now Sir Simon Rattle has comissioned four composers to write short pieces for asteroids of their choice. The Education Department gives also out four compositional commissions to Berlin primary and secundary schools, with the assignment of characterizing an asteroid in music.
