Musical Version of »Sängerkrieg der Heidehasen« by James Kruess.

After a successful opening at the Sydney Opera House in November 2010 this is the second OnTOUR-project reflecting the music of Gustav Mahler.

Once again this season, school orchestras will have an opportunity to present music of their own choice.

At Hörstudio II, you can take the plunge into the sounds of new music with a composer to guide you: talking about her life, discussing the concepts of music that prevail today and providing a useful context for understanding them via a side-trip to the 19th century.

Max Hundelshausen is the winner of the 5th Student Composers Competition.

The Christmas concert this season, moderated by Sarah Willis, conjures up the world of Peter Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker.

Reflecting on the underlying themes of Mahler’s First Symphony, students will create and structure a composition based on the paths of lives, the connection to nature and the parallel joys, turbulences and tribulations encountered during these individual paths.

Matthew Hunter presents together with guest artist and vocalist David Moss a fascinating concert based on Napoleon’s fall, and the work »Ode to Napoleon Buonaparte« by Arnold Schoenberg.

2010 brings his 150th birthday, while 2011 marks the centenary of his death: a double reason for us to immerse ourselves at Hörstudio I in Mahler’s symphonic worlds.
