The young people’s composition workshop OPUS ONE is intended for talented youths between 14 and 19 years of age throughout Germany. The competitors are invited to have their own compositions refer to the instrumentation of Benjamin Britten’s chamber symphony Sinfonietta op. 1, which will be performed on 30 March 2014 at 8 pm in the Chamber Music Hall at a concert of the Orchestra Academy conducted by Stanley Dodds. Those participants selected will be invited to a workshop that lasts several days. Together they will work intensely on the compositions submitted and rehearse them jointly with the musicians. The pieces selected will be premiered at this event by members of the Berliner Philharmoniker and fellows of the Orchestra Academy.
