Georg Schreckenberger began playing the horn at the age of 13 and received his first instruction at the music school of his native Mannheim. From 1987 he studied with Marie-Luise Neunecker at the Frankfurt Musikhochschule. His first engagement, in 1988, was as low horn in the Cologne (WDR) Radio Symphony Orchestra. In 1993 he joined the horn section of the Berliner Philharmoniker. He has also been a regular player in the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra since 1992.
